DESIGNPHILOSOPHY

We believe that the build environment has a direct influence on the quality of our lives and set out to create joyful spaces that are uplifting and inspiring to use.

We aim to create bright spaces flooded with natural light during the day and ambient environments with well-considered lighting at night time. The play of light and shadow is key to bring our architecture alive and the use of warm materials and vegetation often enhances the users’ experience and wellbeing.

Our design approach follows closely the concept of legibility, in which every element of the design is expressive of its function and as such contributes to the overall aesthetics of the building.

The use of clear lines and reduced but carefully considered elements of design achieve buildings and interiors of great elegance, clarity and longevity.

Sustainability and the analysis of the specific site conditions are at the heart of our design and often define the very concept of our buildings. This involves careful consideration for the climatic conditions such as sun, temperature, wind, rain and snow etc. as much as the optimisation of views, natural daylight and use of renewable energy resources available on site.

Our designs are based on a detailed understanding of the functions they must fulfil and we promote the idea of flexibility as a means to ensure that a building can adopt to changes in the original brief and function over time.

We combine the use of up-to-date technology with traditional and cultural related building methods according to the specific project requirements and its location.

We promote teamwork and find that the best designs evolve in close collaboration with our clients and the dedicated design team of architects, designers, engineers, cost consultants and the construction companies and builders.

FAIR BUILD

Communication  ·  Transparency  ·  Cost Control   ·  Respect

We love working with people and for people that we like, that we share a vision, that we enjoy a nice dinner and inspiring conversations and that we eventually call our friends.

Therefore our projects have to be fair. Fair for everyone - for our clients, for our team of designers and engineers, for the construction companies and workers and for the natural and urban settings we build in.

Fair Build is our way to promote a respectful and enjoyable work relationship between all members of each project as well as – and most importantly – maintaining the uttermost transparency on the project costs.

Who has not heard about the many projects that run over the original cost plan twice – or even more.  There is great strategy in the “salami” tactic of slowly increasing the overall costs of a project as it progresses and there is many reasons why the initial costs “have” to appear “low”,  just to be raised later on.

But it does not have to be this way.

For clients that value certainty over wishful thinking we follow a different approach. We will plan your project in full 3D representation down to the last details. This will likely lead to elevated prices at the initial tenders, but these prices can be guaranteed and fixed to a much greater extend, most likely resulting in an all over more economical and definitely faster project – without the unwanted surprises.

For more information how we turn this into practice, please contact us and we'll explain further :)
